Full Package: Recording, Editing, Mixing & Mastering

For the absolute best results, you should produce your album at Four Legs Records from start to finish. Since having control over the entire process makes things easier on us, we are able to offer our lowest rate for the full length of the project.

The full production package at Four Legs Records includes recording, editing, mixing and mastering. At the end of the project, you'll have industry-level CD masters that can convincingly compete with any commercial release. NOTE: These rates are only valid thru the end of 2015.

Bands typically take 10-12 hours per track
Large, single-tracked A Cappella groups typically take 20-25 hours per track
Solo artists with minimal backing usually take about 3-5 hours per track
Full group mix/master jobs usually take about 5 hours per track

Flat Rates Available

Our flat rates are based on the average estimated amount of time it takes to complete a certain type of project. Flat rates are best for groups that feel pressured when on-the-clock, or are not used to studio tracking. At Four Legs Records we work quickly, but never sacrifice quality for speed.

To get a better idea of our flat rates, see the figures to the right. You will see average work times for a few of our more common project types.

For example, a full production package (record, edit, mix, master) on a typical band would take between 10 and 12 hours per track. We would generally assume 11 hours per track when offering a flat rate.

Large, single-tracked a cappella groups take a lot more time from start to finish, (editing takes a while in order to create the sense of precision in timing and tuning) usually going 20-25 hours. Different approaches to recording and variations in track count make this type of group vary more widely in production time.

If you've recorded and edited elsewhere and just need a quality mix and master job, this usually takes around 5 hours per track for a full band or group with a number of performers.

Solo artists with more sparse arrangements, for example just one singer and an acoustic guitar, take much less time to produce than a full band - around 3 to 5 hours depending on the specifics.

We can expertly produce just about any genre of music here, so if you're not comfortable with the regularly hourly rate, e-mail us with your group's specifics and we can supply a flat-rate work quote per track.

Recording and Editing are $30/hour.
Mixing Only is $35/hour.
Mixing and Mastering together are $35/hour.
Mastering Only is $25/track.

A La Carte Services

If you cannot work with Four Legs Records from start to finish, we do offer hourly rates on a per-service basis.

Did you record yourself and require a professional mix and master? We are skilled at taking recordings of practically any quality and making them sound professional and polished. Mixing and mastering together are done at $35/hour. You can also use us for mixing only (no mastering) at the same $35/hour rate.

Did you record and mix elsewhere, but need a loud, punchy and balanced mastering job? Our mastering process preserves source transients (drum punch for example) and dynamics like no other while imparting analog warmth and feel. The mastering service alone is performed at $25/track, or if you have a long, evenly-mixed project, $50/hour (whichever is cheaper!)

While we don't suggest going elsewhere to mix, we do offer sole recording and editing services should the need arise. Both services are done at $30/hour. Note - we generally only accept recording-only sessions of two hours at a time or more.

Refer-A-Friend Program!

I'm just one person trying to be a producer, engineer, promoter, composer, performer, builder and more simultaneously. If you make my life easier by sending other artists my way, I'm happy to reward you with a credit/discount!

If you're a client of mine, any time you refer a new (first-time) client, you'll receive a studio credit worth 20% of their total project cost! For example, if you refer a band that records for 100 hours on their first project with me, you'll receive a credit worth 20 hours studio/recording time toward your next project!

Alternatively, maybe you're not a recording artist yourself, but happen to be a savvy promoter. If you refer a new client my way, (no close relatives please) I'll reward you with a 5% referral fee once the project is all done! For example, if you do the leg-work and get a band you've heard to record a 100-hour album with me, I'll reward you with a payment equal to 5 hours recording time!

If you're interested in referring groups to me, feel free to contact me via e-mail or telephone.
