I can do just about all of my mixes on a flat-rate basis, For flat rate projects, we set up a fee per-song at the begining of a project, and that's what you will end up paying. No per-hour anxiety during tracking! The flat rate is based on the usual time required to finish a project of your type.

For more confident musicians, I do offer a global $30/hr rate; that is if you choose to use my services for the entire priduction process. If you choose to use us for strictly one part of the production process (eg. recording only), I record/edit at $30/hr, mix at $35/hr, and master at $50/hr. With my new live stream, you are able to keep tabs on the editing and mixing process even if you cannot be here in person!

Bands

A typical band I'd record consists of 3-4 instrumentalists (usually drums, bass, two guitars) and a vocalist or two.

In some cases, a project might also need a little extra layering or sequencing work. By having a song co-produced by FLR, you can make your music sound more 'full' or 'lively' - creatively layering and adding/suggesting parts or changes you may not have thought of yourself. While being the lead engineer, I am also an experienced session guitarist and bassist.

I also offer discounts on some of our services if the project is a large one. For example, while full 5-piece band production might cost $300 per track (flat), that rate might drop for a project with a large number of tracks. I understand that times are tough, and we can most likely work something out to get the project underway!

A Cappella

A typical a cappella group may have 10 or more people singing multiple takes of varying lines and overdubs. This is usually the most time-consuming of recording projects, as it takes the longest time to track, and is the most difficult to edit. I offer sampling of, or pre-sampled human percussion for groups that want sequenced percussion (most individually-tracked groups will choose this option).

Groups also have the option of doing some extra work with Ari J Goldman, the successful a cappella producer, director, arranger, performer, you name it. This may cost a little extra, but it is certainly worth having the expertise of an a cappella professional on your side when taking on such a project. Every group has their own hourly or flat-rate fee drawn up with their contract. You may also contact me with your group's info and needs, and I can provide an estimate for you.

Other Projects

The preceding are just common examples of projects we've done. We can also tackle a number of other projects including, but not limited to;

  • Radio ads

  • Solo artists

  • Small groups

  • Live performance groups (needing up to 15 inputs at once)

Groups like these are usually less time-consuming to produce, and can be done at a lower flat-rate than typical bands. If you are interested in recording such a group, contact me with some specifics, and I can give you a flat-rate quote. (Doesn't that sound kind of insurance-company-like?)
